Free Search Engine Listing or Paid Advertising

A lot of you may ask which one is better, free search engine listing or paid advertising? Many will choose Search Engine Listing over Paid Advertising like Google Adwords, because it is free.

But given today’s search engine algorithms, no one can promise you top spot in the free search listing (also called organic ranking). Your position in the organic ranking will fluctuate, thus one day you maybe in the first position, while you will be in 10th position when the next indexing comes along.

So what I would suggest to do is to tap into both free search engine listing and paid advertising like Pay per Click (PPC). To always stay consistent at the top, you will need to have PPC to help you maintain your position under the Sponsored Links in search engine results. In this case, surfers will still be able to see your website while the search engines play around with your indexing.

Before you start to put all your money into PPC, I will like to highlight to you that it will be wise to calculate your budget and the objective of your PPC campaign. There is no point to spend all your money not knowing what you want to achieve from your PPC campaign. DO you want to convert traffic to sales? Or do you want to create awareness? These are questions that you will need to ask yourself before starting a PPC campaign.

Just want to share with you a fact that I have found. Researches have shown that majority of the people view the Organic listing results or the Natural listing results, rather than viewing the results under the Sponsored Links. They will usually click the top 3 to 4 results in the natural listing, rather than clicking on the top 4 sponsored links. Therefore it is still important to have Search Engine Optimization (SEO) done properly for your internet business. It will be wise to maintain your internet business in at least the top 2 pages of search engine results.

In conclusion, I will recommend to use both paid advertising and free search engine listing, as one will guaranteed your position in the sponsor links, while the latter can really bring you tremendous traffic if remains in top 2 pages.
